Washita County Municipal Warrants
Municipal court in Washita County handles local ordinance and city-traffic matters, so a city warrant may never appear on the sheriff's curated Most Wanted card. That does not mean the matter is gone. New Cordell's code carries chapters on traffic, failure to appear, warrants, and bail. Burns Flat runs its court at Town Hall. Sentinel's code names the Chief of Police as court marshal. Corn and Canute list town contacts, but neither town publishes an online warrant or citation portal, so the issuing town is the first route rather than a generic county search. A town court page often gives a better payment or date answer than any countywide public list, because the clerk there holds the actual file and can quote the current cost or setting.
Which Washita Town Court
The right clerk depends on the place named in the ticket. Washita County has several incorporated communities, and each runs its own public channels. Use the contact details below as a route, then verify the current court counter before you travel.
| City or town | Municipal route | Warrant or payment note | Phone |
|---|---|---|---|
| New Cordell | City Hall and City Clerk | City code keeps bail schedule; 2026 move needs verification | Current court phone not confirmed |
| Burns Flat | Town Hall, 222 Highway 44 | Court 6 p.m. second and fourth Tuesdays; payments weekdays 8:30 to 4:30 | (580) 562-3144 |
| Sentinel | Town Hall, 316 E. Main | Chief of Police is municipal marshal | (580) 393-2171 |
| Canute | Town Hall, 604 Highway 66 | No public portal located | (580) 472-3111 |
| Corn | Town office | Office closes noon to 1; court channel not posted | Not posted in source |
The Court Clerk at 111 E. Main, 3rd Floor, Cordell, handles District Court records for Washita County, not every town citation.
Checking a Municipal Warrant
Start with the city clerk or municipal judge. Ask about citation or case status, the missed date, the payment route, the bond rule, and whether a warrant was issued or recalled. The sheriff's Most Wanted page is a partial check only. If the town says the Washita County case moved to District Court, use OSCN and the Court Clerk.
- Read the city or town name and citation number on the notice.
- Call the municipal clerk and ask whether the file is in court, payment review, FTA, bond, or warrant status.
- Ask whether payment alone recalls the warrant or whether a judge, reset, bond, or hearing is needed.
- Use OSCN for a District Court case and the county Court Clerk for official event meaning.
- Call the sheriff at (580) 832-2370 for county service or custody confirmation, not as a replacement for the municipal clerk.
No public online municipal-warrant search was found for every town.
New Cordell Municipal Warrants
New Cordell's code requires a written verified complaint and municipal-judge approval before an ordinary arrest warrant issues, and a summons or failure to appear can lead to warrant process. Chapter 32 also addresses traffic, arraignment, bail, and bond. The City Clerk holds the bail schedule for public inspection. The city homepage links Court Tickets or City Permits, but the payment fields are not exposed on the page. A March 2026 relocation notice moved City Hall toward 120 W. 1st Street while older code uses 101 E. Main, so confirm the current counter before a court visit in this corner of Washita County.
Sentinel Municipal Marshal Rule
Sentinel's Chapter 32 sends municipal writs and process to the Court Marshal, which means the Chief of Police. Under that rule, the Chief or a designated officer can serve a municipal arrest warrant or summons anywhere in Washita County. Another section describes a judge-approved sworn complaint with prompt marshal execution. None of this turns the sheriff's Most Wanted page into a full Sentinel register. Call Town Hall or the municipal clerk about payment, recall, reset, or service. The town code also warns that its online version may lag behind the newest printed legislation, so confirm the current rule before relying on it.
Burns Flat Court and Payment
Burns Flat Municipal Court sits at Town Hall at 6 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays, with dates subject to change. The official page publishes a 2026 calendar and tells readers to confirm with Town Hall. Payments are taken there Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The page does not say that payment automatically recalls a warrant, so ask the clerk whether a new date, bond, judge order, or written recall is needed. The Burns Flat Police page notes its listed email is not an official reporting system and routes reports to the sheriff or 911. For a ticket matter in this Washita County town, use the court phone.
Local caution: Court nights and payment hours are different. Confirm the date, holiday changes, and the status of a warrant before travel.
Municipal Warrant Records
A municipal record can show a citation or complaint, court date, failure-to-appear event, cost, warrant, bond, payment, recall, or next setting. The local court controls the format in Washita County. No countywide sheriff schema applies.
| Citation or cause number | Use the number printed by the town court. New Cordell, Burns Flat, Sentinel, Corn, and Canute do not publish one shared format. |
|---|---|
| Issuing court | The city or town municipal court named on the ticket. |
| Reason | Traffic, ordinance, summons, failure to appear, cost, or bond event. |
| Bond or payment | Ask the local clerk for the amount, accepted method, and whether payment changes warrant status. |
| Result | Request a receipt, order, new date, recall, or other written proof. |
No sheriff card in Washita County proves a city file is clear.
Resolving a Municipal Warrant
Call the issuing town court first. Ask whether payment, a reset, a bond, a recall, or a new appearance is allowed. The sheriff's bondsmen page warns that filed bonds must be complete, notarized, and include case numbers, but it posts no municipal schedule. If the city says the Washita County matter is county-filed, call the Court Clerk at (580) 832-3836.
Remember: Payment, recall, bond, and case completion are separate outcomes. Get the clerk's written instruction and confirmation.
For public access, the Oklahoma Open Records Act supplies the general framework. Sealed, juvenile, investigative, and protected files may be limited. A narrow sheriff records request cannot create a Washita County town court report the sheriff does not keep.
